Liz & Reilly Become First Bloomers Parade Grand Marshals

Liz and ReillyBMD Parade Coordinator Joelie Saunders announced today the popular Mix 94.5 FM Morning Show hosts, Liz and Reilly, will be the very first Grand Marshals of the Bohemia Mining Days Bloomers Parade, on Thursday, July 18th, at 6:30 p.m.

Presented by the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, the parade is open to all bloomers-clad ladies and girls.

Line up begins at 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot near 5th & Main St.  It steps off at 6:30 p.m. and proceeds east through the Historic Downtown District to the Coiner Park entrance (about 7 blocks) and ends after a loop around “Bohemia City”.  The infamous Prospectors and Gold Diggers’ Saloon/Bathhouse float is available for folks with mobility issues to participate in the parade.  (There is no entry fee.)

The Thursday parade was introduced in 2004 as a fun way to kickoff the opening of “Bohemia City” in Coiner Park.  It also provides the opportunity to honor and celebrate the late 19th Century and early 20th Century Cottage Grove women who fought so hard to make women wearing pants socially acceptable and to get women the right to vote in elections.

BMD Parade Coordinator Joelie says, “The Bloomers Parade Planning Committee members are delighted Liz Kelly and Mary Reilly accepted the invitation to preside over our unique 'ladies-only' Bloomers Parade this year!  This is the first time we’ve had a grand marshal for this parade.  We think it’s pretty cool that this year we’ll have two Marshals to help us celebrate our 60th “Diamond Jubilee” Anniversary!”

For more than seven years, award-winning co-hosts Liz and Reilly have entertained and informed their morning listeners.  The duo takes a whimsical look at today’s top issues and pop culture events and invites Willamette Valley listeners to join them each morning from 5:30-9:00 a.m. on Mix 94.5 FM.
