We’ve brought back familiar favorite activities and events and are offering new ones designed to appeal to children of all ages and their families.

  • Carnival

    The carnival offers rides, games, and food in Bohemia Park.  Advance Ride Bracelets are $22 by July 18th at 3:00 p.m. at Cottage Grove Bi-Mart.  All-Day Ride Bracelets are $30 (Unlimited ride bracelets valid from opening to one hour before closing time).  Individual ride tickets can be purchased with most rides requiring multiple tickets per ride.  Carnival hours: Thursday: 3:00 - 9:00 p.m., Friday: 2:00 - 9:00 p.m., and Saturday: 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.  (Depending on demand, it may stay open later.)  Thursday is “Buddy Day” – buy one bracelet and get a second one free.  Redeem at Carnival Ticket Booth.

  • Cowboy Buck and Elizabeth

    BMD welcomes back Cowboy Buck and Elizabeth to the Main Stage for their 18th year performing at the festival.  Their songs and skits brighten up each audience by creating enthusiastic audience participation through song and dance, hand movements, and laughter.  Main Stage performances Thursday - Saturday.

  • Helena Saloon

    Back by popular demand from the under-21 crowd, the famous Helena Saloon returns to offer root beer shots and popcorn for 25-cents each and a free craft.  Located near the Heritage Area.

  • Jay the Magician

    Kids of all ages will enjoy Jay perform on the Main Stage on Friday at 3:30 p.m.  On Saturday he roams around Bohemia City delighting and astonishing festival-goers with his close-up magic tricks.

  • Kiddie Parade

    The Kiddie Parade has been a BMD favorite for 60 years!  Friday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at CG Community Center.  Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.  Route goes through Historic Downtown.  Participants get ribbon & ice cream at the end.  FREE (no entry fee).

  • Grand Miners Parade & Gold Dash

    Bring your candy bag to the Saturday morning parade at 10:00 a.m. along South 10th and Main Streets.  Prior to the parade, Run CG Run invites kids to participate in this 500 meter run.

  • Living History

    Activities include: Gold Panning for REAL gold with REAL miners, Fur Trapping demonstration, Antique Hit & Miss Engines, Living History Village Interactive Kid Zone, and a Civil War Encampment in Trailhead Park.  The Heritage Stage features historical talks, Native American Storytelling, and an original play focused on our “Diamonds in the Rough” theme emphasising Cottage Grove’s most famous “rough diamond”, Opal Whiteley.

  • Farmer Jimmy’s Young Musicians Workshop

    Local musicians coach kids on playing music and provide time on the Heritage Stage to perform on Friday, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

  • Bohemia City Attractions

    Pony Rides ($5), Euro-Bungy Jump ($8), Mechanical Bull Riding ($7), a fundraising Dunk Tank ($1/three balls, $10/basket of 12 balls, $10/get in the tank, $20/Slam Dunk [push the lever]), and an Art Show with hands-on activities.

  • Slabtown vs. Lemati Feud Contest

    Returning for the 8th year, this ongoing competition is pure old-fashioned fun for children and adults.  Check the BMD website for details or pick up the “How to Play The Feud” handout to learn how to join in the fun (next to the Gazebo Stage) during the festival.  Earn points for your respective town by participating in Americana and Mining-themed competitions and by participating in the costume, beard, hairiest legs, & Ugly Dog contests.  Points are also awarded for attending the two Chuckwagon breakfasts or participating in the Election.

  • Train Rides

    The Time Traveling Train returns this year providing free rides to travel back in time.  Visit museums, covered bridges, and the Victorian home of one of the early town doctors.  Free maps list off-site cultural heritage attractions that are easy walking distances from train stops and within a geographic area that's significantly smaller than a Disneyland theme park.  Train schedule: Friday, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, 11:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

  • Historical Treasure Hunt

    Treasure Hunters who follow the map to checkpoints and collect stamps for all the correct answers to specific clues can enter their map into a drawing for a daily $100 cash prize Friday & Saturday.  For those who visit the bonus sites (and have stamps & correct answers for all the other checkpoints) will be entered into a $100 bonus drawing on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. on the Main Stage.  Winners need not be present to win.  A great activity for history-loving individuals and families!  (Checkpoints staffed only until 5:00 p.m. daily).  Register for the Treasure Hunt and get a treasure map at the Welcome/Info Booth near the Bohemia City Train Depot.
