Beard Growing

Open to all age groups, though Whippersnappers and Greenhorns probably shouldn’t get their hopes up.

As soon as you read this, go to the Sentinel office in Cottage Grove and let them take a picture of your clean-shaven face.  Once you’ve done that, don’t let a razor touch your whiskers!  On Saturday, July 21, there will be $50 prizes given for the most outstanding freshly-grown beard in the categories of “Stately” and “Untamed”, as determined by our hand-picked panel of expert judges, who know a good beard when they see one.

If it’s inconvenient for you to visit the Sentinel office, you can instead email a picture of yourself to beards@bohemiaminingdays.org.  Be sure the picture includes both your whiskerless face and the front page of the Cottage Grove Sentinel from June 6, 2012 or any date thereafter, so that we can tell when the picture was taken.  Make the subject line “BEARD”, and include your name in the email.  (If you can't lay hands on a copy of the Sentinel, we'll also accept the Eugene Register-Guard, the Oregonian, or the USA Today.)

Finally, for those of you who aren’t so keen on lopping off your glorious soup-catchers and starting fresh, a third category, “Freestyle”, will allow anyone to enter, not just those who grew a new Bohemia Beard, so that you can still show off your mossy mug without having to start from scratch.

Prizes: $50 and 5 Feud Points for the winner of each category; 3 Feud Points for second place in each category, and 1 Feud Point for each participant.
