Celebrating the spirit and determination of our community’s first white settlers who arrived here by wagon, Bohemia Mining Days offers festival visitors the opportunity to hop aboard a traditional horse-drawn trolley and travel back in time to imagine what it was like
The discovery of gold in the Cascade foothills east of Cottage Grove in 1863soon transformed the small agricultural community into a gold mining boom town.
Flight… the dream of mankind throughout recorded history became a reality in the 20th century. Oregonians established their place in the history books as this new form of transportation developed and that tradition of innovation continues today in the growing experimental aircraft industry.
Be sure to visit the Bohemia Mine Owners Association display area in Coiner Park’s Bohemia City and chat with some present day miners. They offer free gold panning demonstrations and provide a replica of a miner’s log cabin. For a small fee you can pan for gold and take home your efforts as a special souvenir of BMD.
The Prospectors & Golddiggers Club owns and maintains the historic Dr. Snapp House on South River Road, originally built in Slabtown in 1886. During Bohemia Mining Days the house will be open for tours led by Victorian-dressed members of the club.
